Matfen Hall shortlisted at the North East Tourism Awards
Everyone at Matfen Hall is delighted that the Hotel has been selected as a finalist in the North East Tourism Awards 2020.
The awards, which highlight the importance of tourism in the region, will take place in March 2020 and will be hosted by North East comedian – and now Strictly Come Dancing star – Chris Ramsey.
Matfen Hall has been shortlisted in the category of Large Hotel of the Year – and if the Hotel is named the winner on the night, we will go forward to the Visit England Awards for Excellence 2020, which will be held later in 2020.
Managing Director at Matfen Hall, Bernard Bloodworth, said: “We’re incredibly pleased and proud to have been shortlisted and in the running to be named the North East’s Large Hotel of the Year.
“Here at Matfen Hall we are absolutely committed to celebrating the best that the region has to offer and take the role we play in the North East economy very seriously.
“Making sure visitors and guests from all over the region, the UK and beyond have a wonderful time during their stay at Matfen Hall and make the most of their time in the North East as a whole is what we’re always aiming for.
“And having won the title in 2015, we’re very much hoping to bring the award back to Matfen Hall next Spring!”
Judges for the North East Tourism Awards 2020 were faced with more than 150 entries from across the region in a range of categories including new additions Experience of the Year, International Tourism Award and New Tourism Business Award.

“These Awards are a great opportunity to celebrate the important contribution that the industry makes to the region.”
The North East England Tourism Awards are organised and delivered by NewcastleGateshead Initiative in partnership with the Northern Tourism Alliance.
The Northern Tourism Alliance is a collaboration of the region’s tourism bodies who work together on projects that will benefit the tourism industry across the region. The founding members of the alliance are NewcastleGateshead Initiative, Northumberland Tourism, Visit County Durham, and The North East Hotels Association. The North East England Tourism Awards are also supported by South Tyneside Council and North Tyneside Council.
