An award-winning Northumberland hotel has chosen its nominated charity for the next 12 months.
Matfen Hall Hotel, Golf and Spa has given its backing to Hexham-based Tynedale Hospice at Home, which provides free nursing care and transport for terminally ill patients along with bereavement support for both adults and children.
Over the coming year, staff at the hotel, voted Large Hotel of the Year at the 2015 VisitEngland Awards for Excellence, will embark on a variety of fund raising activities on behalf of the charity.
And members of the hotel’s Aqua Vitae spa lost no time giving them a helping hand. Around 16 cyclists completed a 150-mile Matfen North Circular ride, over two days, to raise £1000 for Tynedale Hospice at Home.
“The hospice does such incredible work and all of it free of charge, to those that most need support in our local area,” said Matfen Hall Sales and Marketing Director, Sarah Barber.
“We are really excited to support the hospice as our nominated charity and are already thinking of ways in which we can raise funds for it.”
“We rely heavily on the support of businesses in Tynedale and West Northumberland as we have to raise more than 90 per cent of our expenditure to provide free, local care,” said hospice director, Alison Hands.
“We’re absolutely delighted that Matfen Hall, its staff, members and guests will all be supporting us in the coming year as it is a fantastic venue and we’re lucky to have it right on our doorstep.”
