Tynedale Gift Fair takes place at Matfen Hall on October 28 and 29, 2019

Tynedale Gift Fair returns to Matfen Hall this autumn

Christmas shoppers can get a head start at the end of October as the Tynedale Gift Fair arrives here at Matfen Hall for a two-day stay.

The annual and always popular event brings together a tempting collection of stalls filled with a wide range of hand-made and home cooked treats including bags, hats, jewellery, knitwear, scarves, headbands, quirky gifts and homeware as well as award-winning puddings to make your mouth water.

It’s the perfect way to kick off your Christmas shopping (or just treat yourself!) – making sure you take time to take in the beautiful Northumberland surroundings and make time to enjoy the variety of delicious lunches and afternoon teas we have to offer here at Matfen Hall.

This year’s event, which takes place on Monday October 28th and Tuesday October 29th, will once again welcome hundreds of people to our award-winning hotel, which has played host to the Fair every year since 2003.

In that time, more than £45,000 has been raised for a variety of good causes.

For 2019, the My Name’5 Doddie Foundation will benefit from the generosity of shoppers.

The charity was set up by Scottish international rubgy player, Doddie Weir who was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease in 2017. The foundation aids research into causes of MND investigating potential cures. It also makes grants to individuals suffering from MND, to enable them to live as fulfilled a life as possible.

Bernard Bloodworth, Managing Director of Matfen Hall Hotel, said: “It is always a pleasure to host the Tynedale Gift Fair and it’s something we look forward to every year.

“The event has raised a fantastic amount for a number of wonderful charities over the many years it has been held at Matfen Hall and we’re sure this year will be no different.”

Tynedale Gift Fair treasurer, Margaret Murray, said: “We’re delighted to be returning to Matfen Hall and we are excited to have a great range of stalls from all over the country coming.

“It will be an opportunity to do some great shopping, in fantastic surroundings, for a wonderful cause. We’re looking forward to seeing everyone there.”

The Tynedale Gift Fair takes place at Matfen Hall on October 28th (3.30pm-8.30pm) and 29th (10am to 3pm). Admission is £4 and includes entry into a free prize draw.

Attendees can also enjoy a bite to eat during their visit – options include Afternoon Tea, served in the Library Restaurant on each day between 12 & 4pm, dining at leisure in the Conservatory or Keepers Lodge or enjoy this month’s Library Lunch, which sees our Library Restaurant open for lunch once a month, on Tuesday 29th October. Booking is essential for both the Library Lunch and Afternoon Tea. Call 01661 886500  to reserve a table.
