Enjoy a relaxed afternoon in our Library restaurant.
The traditional afternoon tea was created in the early nineteenth century by Anna, Duchess of Bedford, and usually caters towards a more female audience. However, our Executive Chefs at Matfen Hall have taken inspiration from the classic Gentleman’s clubs to create a tea with a masculine twist.
Freshly prepared and made to order our Gentleman’s afternoon teas comprise of home cooked Northumbrian Ham, tomato and rocket open sandwich, a homemade Scotch egg, a pancetta and cheese scone, a fruit scone with all of the accompanying preserves, a pork pie, a chocolate and raspberry rum trifle and a locally sourced pot of tea from Newcastle tea specialists Ringtons.
